Not having a monthly budget - it is necessary for each student to write out a monthly budget to live by. Not only will this be useful for the rest of your life regarding economics, but this will also ensure that you have enough money for groceries, rent, bills and going out with friends!
Clubbing too often - clubbing can be fun, but it can also be extremely expensive. Make sure that you still have time to get work done without being hungover and enough money in your pocket for groceries. That said, clubbing can be a great time as long as you’re drinking responsibly and taking safety precautions!
Drinking too much - alcohol is a rather large issue with Uni students. Yes, it is fun to drink with friends and go out. However, it is important to be responsible and safe! Alcohol can lead to many serious problems both physically and mentally. Ensure that you’re controlling the drink and not letting the drink control you!
Procrastination - possibly the biggest Uni issue. Procrastination can be dealt with in a multitude of ways, but the best advice for it is honestly to avoid it altogether. In my previous post, ‘My Top 5 Tips For New Uni Students’, I cover my favourite tip for dealing with procrastination; setting up a schedule.
Having a poor sleep schedule or none at all - it is crucial that a student gets enough sleep before an exam, assessment or lecture! Your brain needs to recharge. Once you mess up your sleep schedule, it can sometimes take weeks of attempting to fix it resulting in a less then happy camper throughout the day. Ensure that you’re getting at least 8 hours of rest each night between midnight and 10am ideally.
Sincerely,
