Welcome to the twenty-seventh day of my daily October posts! Throughout these next 5-days, I will be posting different spooky fun facts, tricks and treats. Today, I will be giving you a small and simple reason to read each of the big 3 vampire novels—John William Polidori’s The Vampyre (1819), Sheridan Le Fanu’s Carmilla (1872) and Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1897). Enjoy!

John William Polidori’s The Vampyre (1819): The first vampire story in English literary history and the famous vampire story that used the term ”vampyre”!

Sheridan Le Fanu’s Carmilla (1872): The vampire novel that introduced the position of the vampiress and the archetype of the “seductress vampire”—although her lure is not what you would expect!

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1897): The most famous vampire novel, and the novel that influenced all other vampire creations since! This novel includes a newly turned vampiress that represents the turn of the Victorian Era—the “New Woman”.

Thank you for reading and make sure to come back for tomorrow's post!

Sincerely,

        your 21st century poet <3
