Hey y’all! Today, I just wanted to lay out my top 10 TBR classics that I plan on reading this year—whether or not I complete them all is TBA…

  1. Wuthering Heights (1847) by Emily Brontë

  2. The Idiot (1869) by Fyodor Dostoyevsky

  3. Demons (1872) by Fyodor Dostoyevsky

  4. The Brothers Karamazov (1880) by Fyodor Dostoyevsky

  5. Crime and Punishment (1866) by Fyodor Dostoyevsky

  6. The Trial (1925) by Franz Kafka

  7. A Tale of Two Cities (1859) by Charles Dickens

  8. The Count of Monte Cristo (1846) by Alexandre Dumas

  9. Anna Karenina (1878) by Leo Tolstoy

  10. One Hundred Years of Solitude (1967) by Gabriel Garcia Márquez

Honorable mention (if I have the time for it): We Have Always Lived in the Castle (1962) by Shirley Jackson.

I’m not sure why every book I chose was published in the 19th or 20th century, but I do recognize the trend I’ve made here.

I know that there are quite a few of Dostoyevsky’s novels here, but he’s been on my TBR for too long now! 😂 2026 will finally be my Dostoyevsky year.

Make sure to let me know what classics you plan on reading this year!

Sincerely,

your 21st century poet
