Welcome to the sixth day of my daily October posts AND the first day of our second mini series—Monster Week!! Throughout these next 26-days, I will be posting different spooky fun facts, tricks and treats. Today, we will be going through the top 10 monster shows I recommend watching this autumn season! Enjoy!
Gravity Falls (2012) - Rated TV-Y7. One of my favorite shows ever! Filled with monsters, creatures, a pet pig, and small-town mysteries… Head on down to the mystery shack to check out this one-of-a-kind collection of everyone’s favorite childhood memories—a.k.a. visiting crazy family members
What We Do In the Shadows (2019) - Rated TV-MA. The Office (2005), but with vampires and other monsters? It’s got that docu-series vibe and dry humor that leaves you wanting more. Absolutely hilarious—make sure to check this one out! Leave your favorite character in the comments below!! I, myself have always loved Laz, but Guillermo has recently stolen my heart.
Scooby-Doo (1969) - Rated PG. The best kids TV show in existence, hands down! There are so many iterations to choose from that you’ll never get bored of hopping into the mystery machine and going for a ride with these meddling kids!
Over the Garden Wall (2014) - Rated PG. A haunting animation filled with sweet moments between brothers lost in the Unknown, Wirt and Greg. If I had to describe this show with a single word it would be warmth. Follow the brothers as they explore the Unknown whilst trying to get home!
Hilda (2018) - Rated TV-Y7. Once the 2010 graphic novel by Luke Pearson, now a beautifully animated TV series. Follow Hilda and the gang as they meet new creatures and explore the wilderness, cities and all that they can.
Haunted Hotel (2025) - Rated TV-14. Single-mom of two (three if you count the demon, Abaddon), Kathy inherits a hotel from her late brother, although he regrets to inform her that the estate is haunted… At least his ghostly figure is still there to guide her around the business!
Disenchantment (2018) - Rated TV-MA. From The Simpsons (1989) to Futurama (1919), producer Matt Groening tackles an animated fantasy series starring Princess Bean—the alcoholic, Elfo—the sensitive (at times) elf, and Luci—Bean’s miniature demon. What can’t this trio accomplish when they’re off on their own battling monsters and creatures alike?
Wednesday (2022) - Rated TV-14. The famous Addams’ family macabre daughter sets off to Nevermore Academy for the strange, where she uncovers a mystery her parents played a part in 25-years prior…
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018) - Rated TV-14. Half-witch, half-human, Sabrina tackles the forces of evil against her and her family in this occult horror, yet, coming-of-age series.
The Owl House (2020) - Rated TV-Y7. If you ever came across a random portal, would you hop in and explore? If you ever met a mischievous and rather rebellious witch, would you become her apprentice? If so, then you’re just like Luz! Make sure to watch this exciting animated series to follow along on all of their adventures!
Honorable mention: Marvel Zombies (2025) - Rated TV-MA. Set after the What If…? (2021) series, this short 4-episode series will be sure to take over your boredom! If you want to see what happens next, just tune in to the freshly released episodes.
Thank you for reading and make sure to come back for tomorrow's post!
Sincerely,
your 21st century poet <3
