My dearest readers,
I have been rather discontent as of late. I tire easily. I wish to rest and restore my spirit—maybe even my sanity at this point. Today, I simply wish to share a few songs that calm me on days such as this—on days where the light does not meet my eyes. Not every song on this list is happy, in fact, most are not. However, they risk the pain to feel something real. It is on days that I float around without my soul, that the realness of these songs brings me back to earth.
Je te laisserai des mots by Patrick Watson
My Love Mine All Mine by Mitski
Lights Are On by Edith Whiskers
Dancing With Your Ghost by Sasha Allen Sloan
everything works out in the end by Luke Willies
The Winner Is by DeVotchKa & Michael Danna
Let Down by Radiohead—I like the version with the choir in the background
Something In The Heavens by Lewis Capaldi—this song reminds me of Jesus, my savior
Radio by Lana Del Rey
Don’t Fall Asleep Yet by Powfu
Tear in My Heart—MTV Version by Twenty One Pilots
Punkrocker by Teddybears
Open the Eyes of My Heart by 7 Hills Worship
Linger by The Cranberries

Don’t simply listen to them—enjoy them, feel them, let them steal you into their own worlds for a moment or two. This world will be waiting for you when you come back.
Sincerely,
Your 21st century poet
