I was lucky to attend and volunteer at Gray Day 2024 as a part of my placement at the Alasdair Gray Archive (AGA) in the final semester of my third year. Today, is Gray Day 2025 and although I am unable to attend, I would like to provide my support to AGA and the legacy of Alasdair Gray himself. Last year at Gray Day, I was blown away by the art on each wall of the second floor of the Òran Mór where Gray Day took place. I was informed that day that Gray had partially painted and designed that phenomenal artwork. In fact, someone told me that the Òran Mór was Scotland’s Sistine Chapel and by my experience there, I would have to agree! However, this beautiful design was never finished as Gray passed away before its completion in 2019. Gray Day 2024 was filled with amazing writers, students, artists and friends to celebrate Gray’s work. There, I heard stories of Gray from his personal friends and was even blessed with experiencing a reading of one of his stories at the beginning of the event. If you have the time today, please go and check out Gray Day 2025 at the beautiful Òran Mór for me!
