Emerald Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights” (2026) Expectations

In a few days, Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights (2026) will be released in theaters. I have been reading Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights (1847) and I do agree that the advertising is increasingly unsavory, especially with the trailer claiming that Wuthering Heights is “the greatest love story of all time”. I don’t agree with glorifying toxic and abusive relationships, so I am hoping that the advertising is simply misleading us viewers. We will see if the toxicity and obsession of the relationship will be the main focus of the film or not.

I am a rather large fan of the acting styles of both Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, even so, the trailer alone showed many inconsistencies within time period and the characters themselves…

As of now, I think it will be a film that people will enjoy if they have not read Emily Brontë’s original novel. As I have not seen the film yet, I will refrain from commenting on it further until I have dissected it. However, expect an in-depth film/book analysis later on once the film is released on platforms outside of theaters.

Sincerely,

Your 21st century poet
